When Hiram was a boy, Hiram Maxim stayed in the Brockway Mills, which is located right off Silvers Mills Road. The eldest son of a farmer who was a locally notable mechanic, Maxim was apprenticed at 14 to a carriage maker. Hiram Maxim was born on 5th February. The young Maxim enjoyed humble, even modest surrounding. Sr. Hiram Stevens Maxim was an inventor from America that later immigrated to the United Kingdom when he was about 41 years old. In the 1900s Sr. Hiram turned into a British subject. He also claimed to inventing the light bulb and he tried designing an amusement ride but couldn't make it happen. He was born in Sangerville Maine in the United States around the 1840s. Hiram had a brother that was an inventor that invented a weapon. In 1881, Maxim trveled to Europe so he could attend an Electric Exhibition in Paris where Sr. Hiram was decorated by the Government in France for the work he did with electricity. Two years later, he began work on his first automatic gun. When it was announced to the public that a American engineer that had been produced a gun that could fire itself by touching a button, the report back was rebukked and recognized as incredulous. Hiram Maxim's inventivness smartness followed to fruition while working as a apprentice with Daniel Sweat’s shop for carrages in Corinth, Maine. Hiram started his inventing job in Maine. Hiram perfected a coating for blackboards, so successful that large numbers of his specially coated boards were sold throughout North America. His inventions he also made was fire sprinklers and steam-powered aircraft.
